Contact Freshtel - 1300 373 748 Freshtel internet phone

What is VoIP?

VoIP is just a fancy way of describing a telephone that uses the internet as opposed to the standard telephone network to make calls. It stands for Voice over Internet Protocol

That's it!

VoIP is far cheaper than your normal phone because it goes over the internet. If you call another Freshtel customer, this call is totally FREE as it goes over the internet the entire way. If you call a normal land line, there is a minimal charge of 10¢ for any fixed line in Australia (yes, this includes 1300 and 13 numbers!). Have a guess why we charge for these calls – it's because the call goes over the internet until it reaches the local telephone exchange, then it travels the last section over normal phone lines until it reaches the dialled number - and the company that runs the exchanges charges us! This how we are able to offer 10¢ calls.

To any fixed number. To anywhere in Australia. At any time.
